How being your own boss can be good—or bad!

I was reminded the other day by a friend I was talking to about the business I’m trying to grow that the lifestyle I have now is what I love. She said I have the freedom to set my own schedule, to go on walks during the day whenever the weather is nice, to meet friends like her for coffee and not worry about being late for work, plus there’s the benefit of taking time off whenever I want.

Grand Central at night.
On track to get home from a networking event one night recently.

I’m grateful for all these benefits but it’s easy to get sidetracked from my goals as well. One way I keep on track is having things in my calendar that I make sure to do. Keeping up with email correspondence, especially after a networking event is a huge priority. Doing some learning every week; blogging more often, etc.

So the good part is flexibility and the bad part is keeping up a certain discipline. But, really, it’s all good. I love working on my business and connecting with others who are doing the same. If you are, let me know in the comments or get in touch!
