I was just reviewing the list of people I sent postcards to about Paul’s August art show. One of them is our friend and fine artist, Chipp Wells of Westerly, RI. He passed away just a few days ago and we just found out. Chipp was something of a mentor to Paul as he began to try to get his art more noticed. I had met Chipp my first day in advertising and knew him as a kind, encouraging presence in a crazy industry. I was so happy for him when he declared he was retiring to paint New England scenery in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. We visited him at his studio on a riverbank and got the tour. He said to come back anytime and even stay there if we want. We will miss him a lot!
